Living in a kampung (village), my children got themselves dirty from head to toe almost everyday. The tough part is having a girl that sucks her finger! No matter how many times I reminded her to wash her fingers before sucking, she failed to do that. Once she got hold of her smelly pillow (bantal busuk) she will suck away along with the dirts on her finger! That really freaks me out. When she was younger, she often got mouth infection. Now, Praise God, she is immune to them. But that does not mean I ignore teaching them about personal hygiene and cleaning themselves.
