We will be in Kuching on my dad’s birthday this year. Looks like there is not going to be any birthday “makan” for him. We can have it when we return but old folk pantang to celebrate their birthday after their birth date. We can have pre-birthday celebration but not post-birthday celebration. Anyway, I heard my dad told my son that “Kong-Kong will have no more teeth by the time you come back from Kuching.” Yes! He has started going to the dentist to get his bottom teeth extracted one by one till all are gone. Soon there will all dentures in his mouth because the top teeth are all gone long time ago. Due to this, he can only eat porridge and soft food. As for his birthday present, as usual, I will give him Angpow or maybe something like Medicare supplement insurance if I can afford it coz at his age, it must be very costly.
This happened 2 Saturdays ago.
The moment the maid open the back door, she smells petrol and the floor where I parked my car is covered with petrol. “Ma’am, kereta Ma’am bocor, minyak keluar banyak.” I quickly went to take a look and I saw petrol dripping like pipe water from the bottom of my car. “How come can leak arh? I did not hit anything last night.” I thought to myself. Then “Dear, dear, wake up, my car petrol leaks.” “What can I do? Aiyo only 7am you wake me up already. Go take something to collect the petrol lar.” he replied half awake. hehehe. Ok lor, what else can he do right since the mechanic shop only opens at 10am.

Anyway, he did wake up a short while after I disturbed his sleep. Hahaha…once awake, he cannot go back to sleep. To find out which part is leaking, we used my digital camera and snap the picture; no need to squeeze himself under the car to take a peep.

He said it must be the dog because the dog likes to sleep under the car. Maybe the dog hit the piping a few times when trying to go in and out until it got loosen.
Around 10am, hubby went to fetch the mechanic to our home and get it fixed. I think more than RM20 of petrol was wasted that morning.
Finally the day that all of us have been waiting for is just a few hours away. We will be leaving Melaka by 7am tomorrow to catch the 9ish flight to Kuching to meet my beloved sister and her family. This will be my first time to Kuching but not Sarawak. I have been to Sibu on mission trip before I got married. Well, the most excited people in this coming trip are my children. Their dreams come true; flying in an airplane. I just hope that they will behave well in the plane and no one wants to go pooping during that 2 hours flight especially my baby but I doubt so. I wonder whether they have changing table for baby; if not how am I going to change my baby’s diaper?
I need to start packing today and am bringing the minimum clothing or else I will surely need company like Boston Moving Company to transport our luggage and boxes to the airport.
Thank God my sister has a 2yo so I can borrow from her the cloth nappy. I wonder whether she still have some M size disposable diapers; if yes even better because can save more space in the luggage bag for other stuff like my pizza ingredient (my sister wanted me to bake pizza for her!), cloth diapers, rambutan, Nyonya Chang, Soy Sauce and some toys to keep my children occupied during the flight.
First there is my eldest daughter who loves to draw. Now we have another blooming artist in the family; my 2nd daughter. Recently she has started to draw like her sister. It is kind of funny to see their artwork. My eldest girl has bigger build but her drawings are very small. My 2nd girl has a smaller build but her drawings are big! I guess there is a balance in everything.
Hubby was telling me that she picks up drawing because she wants my attention. This is because my eldest girl received a lot of praises due to her drawing. So I started praising my 2nd girl artwork too and encourage her to draw.
They have many pages filled with their drawings until I gave up collecting them. Recently hubby took a stack of the recycle paper from his shop and binds them with comb binding and gave each of his girls a book. This way, their drawings are not all over the house. I know there are art storage services available where one can keep their valuable art collection in a safe place. I do not think that I will need to use that kind of service now. However, if you do have antiques or artwork and need to move them to another place then you might want to hire them.
In the morning, informed the maid not to cook. We sent the maid to my mom’s and head to church. If you are wondering why I didn’t bring my maid along, well there is nothing she can do there except get bored in the mother’s room. I don’t let her handle my baby; my baby is mine.
And my 3 older ones will be in Sunday School. At least at my mom’s, she can help her with the housework and watch some Indonesian series on Astro coz my mom watches them.
After church we took our lunch in a restaurant opposite the church; Wantan Mee and Fried Tang Hoon. Baby slept in my arm the moment I sat down after I am done with the food ordering. We ate in peace; almost. We still have 3 whiny kids wanting gassy drinks to which we said, “No! Drink your Barley.”
We went straight home after lunch coz baby is still sleeping. He has not been sleeping while we were in church.
For dinner, we have an invitation to join the farewell party of some Indonesian girls (we attended the same church) who are going back to their country. I opt not to go because I know none of them personally. To go there just for the food is so not my style. I rather eat fried Bee Hoon at home and that was what I cooked for dinner.
After dinner, hubby and I went dating. Unfortunately, we have a lamp post with us, our Baby Ezra.
He was very good though; sitting quietly in the baby sling while we shop and sleeping while we drink and chat at Uncle John Kopitiam in Giant.
Here’s a pix of Baby Ezra and I, taken with hubby’s phone. I seldom bring my camera around now. Dah malas mo snap picture dah.

I heard him poo-poo, opened his nappy cloth to discover yellowish bubbles (lots of them) instead of the normal yellowish poops.
Must ask the most experienced mom. I told my mom about it. She said that baby’s tummy got a lot of wind because I ate and drank overnight food and drinks. That is so true, the afternoon, I drank yesterday’s Lor Han Kuo from the fridge.
Oh! Like that arh? So, everything a breastfeeding mommy eats and drinks must be fresh; no leftovers and no overnights.
Due to the farming, we have to bear the chicken dung smell and house flies for almost 2 weeks. I didn’t realised that our clothes stings with chicken dung smell until my niece commented that Belle smells “busuk”. I went home and sniff ALL our clothes and rewashed them. The maid knew about it and did not say a word! Then for that 2 weeks, I hang my laundry at my parent’s house.
Morning, load the washed laundry in my car before sending my girls to school. Send my girls to school then to my parent’s, quickly hang laundry and head back home again to attend to my boys. Afternoon, go there for lunch and hang around until 2pm till the clothes dried then bring the laundry back home to fold.
That has been my routine for the past two weeks. Thank God, the bunds are all covered now and no more chicken dung smell in the air.
I look forward to August 23, 2009. That will be the day that I will be 100% housewife; not just a WAHM. Hey, I work you know, I blog to earn money.
That is the day that my maid will leave us for a month holiday. I have already imagine how my household will be and how the compound will look like. Please don’t come visit me during that one month unless you come to help me out.
Anyway, I thank God that my mom is living very near my in-law’s house and the cooking will be done by her. Phew! One burden lifted up. If not I must head to the Book Shop to get some cookbooks.
Talking about cookbook, have you heard about the big fat duck cookbook? It is not just any other cookbook. In The Big Fat Duck Cookbook, you will know the full story of the meteoric rise of Heston Blumenthal and The Fat Duck, birthplace of snail porridge and bacon-and-egg ice cream, and encounter the passion, perfection and weird science behind the man and the restaurant then only you will find 50 of his signature recipes.
Heston Blumenthal is widely acknowledged to be a genius, and The Fat Duck has twice been voted the Best Restaurant in the World by a peer group of top chefs.
I have a few review to write and no nonsense post like this in mind but I am still feeling stress up to start serious writing. I just do not want to use my brain so much today.
I am not sleepy. My not so newborn anymore is being very good to me. Sleeps most of the time.
I am feeling stressful because of my 2nd girl. Almost each time she brought home Chinese writing homework, my blood boils. After each stroke, she flew to outaspace until I bring her back to earth with some serious threatening. Rewards only works for the first few strokes. Don’t tell me I have to think of 50 rewards for her to complete one page! You know how they get the children to write; the first stroke, 10 times. Then 1st and 2nd strokes, 10 times again and then 1st, 2nd and 3rd strokes, another 10 times. If the character has 8 strokes, they have to write 80 times = 80 rewards???
I’d rather use my dad’s approach of teaching me. Don’t ask me what it is, you will definitely won’t agree with it but it works.
This girl of mine is just like me! But I was less stubborn compared to her. One time kena discipline, straight away be a good girl and he does not need to coach me in my homework anymore until I graduated from uni.
What to do, she still has some of her daddy’s genes in her.
We had Baked Chicken chicken for lunch. You can get the recipe here.

And for dinner, my children had Western Breakfast! Yup, breakfast menu for dinner.

Reason being, those were the only food in the fridge that my children will surely eat.
I had stomachache coz I ate Nyonya Chang from dunno when! My tummy still can’t take glutinous rice.
Besides that, I ate Chocolate, Ice Cream and Pengat Durian. Fattening stuff!!!
The weather was gloomy and cold. Everything runs on slow mode! My 2.5 months old baby slept almost the whole day! He woke up at 10.30am, slept again at 11.30am till 2pm, then from 3pm to 5pm, then 6.30pm to 8.30pm and at 10pm we settle for the day. He is still sleeping now.
Bliss!
