This was what found in the maid’s bag beside the Buah Salak; Buah Gajus / Cashew Nut Fruit. However they are not edible. Well, you can eat the fruit if you don’t mind the bitter taste. This Cashew Nut Fruit, she did not buy because they grew around her house. She brought them back upon my request because I want my children to take a look at this special fruit where the seed grows outside of the fruit. This is only my 2nd time touching this Cashew Nut Fruit! Never see the actual plant before. So, the maid planted the seed behind our house.
I hope they will grow and we will have our own Cashew Nut Plant.
At the very beginning, the seed is bigger than the fruit!

The Cashew Nut is inside the seed and it was not easy to remove the nut from the seed.

This is my 2nd time looking at the cashew nut fruit from blogs. Never seen the real thing yet.
oh are those really cashew nuts? the ones we love eating and not cheap at all? wah.. yr maid is so good to u.. brought back all the way for yr kids to see.. so nice of her.. but her mam treats her better, right?
The fruit can be eaten after you steam it until soft and sprinkle salt on it. I had it when we were in Kupang.
