Gone were the days when school children goes to school with only 20 cents in their pocket. During my days, my dad gave me 20 cents per day. And that is not for food. That is for bus fare. All of us get to eat free food sponsored by the school (government). 30 years ago, 20 cents can buy you a bowl of noodle. But definitely not now. 20 cents can get 2 sweets only.
During my days, you can hardly find any 20 cents lying around the house. Now, you can find 20 cents at every corner of the house, even under the bed and even in the bathroom. No one will “run” after it like my time. I will be so happy if I find 20 cents on the floor. That 20 cents can buy me lots of junk food.
And if someone borrowed from me 20 cents, I will make sure he/she return it to me the very next day. Unlike now, my daughter’s classmate (her mom is one of the school teachers! i still wonder why she did not just ask money from her mom) borrowed from her RM1 and did not return it to her. It has been 2 weeks already. What did my daughter do? Nothing coz she thinks her mommy got lots of RM1.
Anyway, I just treat it as a blessing to that girl lar. Only RM1 what? I am not a miser.

That day, I fetched my son back and he wanted to get some food. He took 40sens from the car. I looked at him, wondering if he ever going to get anything in the shop with 40sens.
a small packet of keropok cost 30 cents.
but if he wants bread, no way right? during our days, 15 cents we can get a bun.
