Shaping Up for A Cheong Sam

In FB, a few mommies have started working out and shaping up so that they can fit into a Cheong Sam for this Chinese New Year. It is a very tough job especially for us who bloated to the max during pregnancy. It feels like forever or never to get back the pre-pregnancy weight and shape. Some of us will try taking the short cut by popping in diet pills but what is three best diet pill on the market you may ask. I also dunno! :P Another easy way to fit into a Cheong Sam…go make another one lar and try getting those with stretchable fabric. :P

Kuih Bakul, Kuih Belanda and Kuih Ros

The Year of the Rabbit is coming soon. I am sure most of you are busy preparing CNY cookies, doing spring cleaning and upgrading your home to welcome this Chinese New Year.

As for us, we have renovated our kitchen to make it more spacious and neater. We are planning to build another pangkin too. MIL, SIL and maid made some Kuih Bakul, Kuih Belanda and next in the line is Kuih Ros.

I tasted the Kuih Bakul and now munching on the rejected Kuih Belanda as I am typing this. :) I surely need the fat burners after the CNY celebration is over.

A gift for Me, Myself and I

Can’t afford to buy myself sony tvs but I can afford to sew a nice shoulder bag for myself. All this while, all the nice ones have been sold. I also want a nice bag. Since I am so bored, and I need my time to fly faster, I sew 2 bags yesterday. One for my mom and one for me using the same fabric but different design. I sewn for my mom a reversible bag and for me, below…

handmade bag

Nice or not? I have the same design but of different fabric. Got bored using the same ones every time I go shopping.

Unfortunately, my old shoulder blade injury came back coz I over exert using my right shoulder to spin the sewing machine. Never done 2 bags in a day before but most importantly, I am satisfied and happy with the outcome of my sewing. Pain will go away slowly but surely. :D

Expensive Ears

My 2nd girl loves jewelry especially earrings. Unfortunately, her ears can only accept silver or gold jewelry. Just like her mother! Our ears are expensive ears. No ordinary metal fashion jewelry can enter into our pierced ears. Due to it, we can only look and adore those beautiful fashion jewelries but can never wear them. So if you wanna buy earrings as a gift for us, make sure they are made of silver or gold ok? ;)

First Day of School – Year 2011

This Mommy woke up late! As late as 7.03am where by she should leave home with the children by 7.15am.

My alarm went off at 6.15am but I was way too sleepy because I slept after 2am on the same day. So used to sleeping late during the school holiday. Can’t get myself to sleep early. :( When the alarm went off, instead of pressing the “Snooze” button, I went to press the “Stop” button. Thank God hubby’s watch alarm was set at 7am. His alarm woke me up.

Unfortunately, my children do not understand the meaning of “late for school”. They still take their own sweet time to wake up, brush teeth and get dress. I have to wake hubby up to help me hurry them up. So on the first day of school, each of us (hubby, maid and I) got them ready for school.

We managed to arrive school on time! Without breakfast though which they do not mind coz they are very excited about going to school.

Since my eldest is already in Std 2 and my 2nd girl has many friends from kindy that goes to the same school, I did not hang around or come back during recess like what I did with my eldest. I paid the fees and informed my 2nd girl class teacher about my girl’s eyesight problem then I left to send my 5yo son kindy.

My 5yo son is another independent boy. After paying the kindy fees and books, have a chat with the principal, I brought my son to the playground while waiting for others to arrive. To my surprise, my son told me, “Mommy, you can go inside the car and go home now.” I asked him whether he is serious. He nodded and told me to go home! So, I went home lar. I felt unwanted! hahahaha. My children is growing up fast.

When I went to fetch him home, the first thing he said is, “Mommy I want to go to the kindy again tomorrow. It is so fun.” Then he started telling me everything that he did on that day. My girls never do the same when they were in kindy; I have to ask then only they tell.

Oh ya! I also discovered that my eldest girl has outgrown her Size 1 school shoes. We bought 2 new pairs of Size 3 shoes for her just now. ;)

That’s my first day of school story. :D

Not So Happy New Year

Sad to say that I started my New Year with tears. Not tears of joy but tears of a fright, tears of pain, tears of angst and tears of regret.

Hubby was away at church for Watch Night service and the children wanted to wait for their daddy to return to wish him Happy New Year. Unfortunately it was almost 1am and he is still not back yet so they went to bed.

As usual, my youngest child needs his milk before bed and the hot water in the thermos left 6oz only. So, I boil some water to fill the empty thermos because my baby will wake up for milk around 4-5am every morning.

After I am done filling 2 thermos with hot water, I pour the balance into the kettle. During that 2 seconds, my 20mo baby pulled one of the thermos and it fell on the floor. I only realised it when he screams in pain. Thank God the water did not splash on his body. I quickly scoop him up from the floor, undress him and look for scalding area. What a relief to find only his palm and left foot are red. So I quickly bring him to the bathroom and soak his feet in the bath tub and leave his palm under running pipe water. He stopped crying. I brought him out and applied lots of Colgate to his sole, palm and toes. The pain sets in and he started crying in pain, so do I! I can feel his pain and I was so worried that he will get a bad scalding.

Thank God he was very sleepy. After breastfeeding him for a few minutes he went to sleep but not me. I kept praying and looking at his foot, keeping my fingers crossed that the redness will subside and no scalding.

God is gracious and spared us the agony. My baby woke up a happy boy as if the incident did not happen at all.

And I informed hubby to tell the maid to make sure the thermos is filled with hot water before she goes to bed every night so that I don’t have to boil water at night if possible. Having a clingy baby who tails me every where I go, I fear the incident might repeat again.
