Oh ya! The operating hours of Starhawk Internet Cafe, Melaka is from 10 am to 12 midnight. Sometimes when hubby has to open the shop himself, it will be opened a lil bit late. Biasa lar…BOSS-kan.

When it comes to teaching my children to read and write, I had it easy with my firstborn. She could write, draw and colour very well when she was 4. Unfortunately, it is not the same with my 2nd girl. She is totally the opposite of her eldest sister. Many times I got very frustrated, upset and lost lots of temper when teaching her. Many times I gave up too. Hubby kept reminding me to give her time and let her be. But, she is already 6yo by then and she can’t even read. I panicked because she is going to Chinese school soon.

I blame it on myself for not eating well when I was carrying her. I blame it on the nurses at the paediatric ICU when she was hospitalised for jaundice for not covering her eyes tightly which I think is the cause of her eye problem. I blame it on hubby’s genes; he was like her too.

Now into the 2nd month of Primary One, I see progress in her reading, writing and memorizing skills. I am surprised that she could spell simple consonant. I am surprised that she got 100% for simple spelling. I am surprised that she can memorize words quite fast. Her handwriting improves a lot too. She writes neater than her eldest sister!

Surprisingly she has no problem understanding how to solve the Maths problem. That she got it from me.

She is a late bloomer and I must remind myself each day to give her time and not to push her up to her sister’s standard. Every child is different and every child is unique.

I thank God that she has understanding teachers; I told her class teacher about her learning and eyesight problem. I thank God that her class consist of 13 students only including herself; she can get lots of attention from the teachers. I thank God for the new school syllabus; it is what my daughter needed; more interaction and group projects than homework.

So far, I receive no complaint from any of her teachers (except homework not done!), so I guess she is like any other average student.

My daughter is not stupid!

If you are married, you cannot escape from giving Angpow to the children during CNY unless you make yourself disappear when they come to visit lar. hehehe. If you have a few children, whatever you gave will come back to you because your children will receive Angpow too. As for me this year, I have 5 children and most of my relatives do not have many children. At the end of the day, we received tripled the amount we gave. Children are a blessing remember?

Anyway, do you take all your children’s Angpow, bank them into their bank account or buy something special for them? As for me, during previous CNY, all my children’s Angpow money went into their respective bank account. However, not this year though. We used RM300 to buy a new and bigger bicycle for my eldest because hubby often bring her cycling. She has to paddle more with her small bicycle to catch up with her daddy. The rest of the cash went into hubby’s business account because sales was very low this month and we do not have enough to cover for all the expenses incurred.

Sorry children! Daddy promised that when the sales pick up, he will return all your Angpow money. Then you all can buy for Mommy one of the compact digital cameras ok? Mommy need to take better and nicer picture of you all mah.

On Monday morning, right before the last in laws depart from our house, one of their children saw our dog’s hind legs was shivering uncontrollably. He looked very sick too. We suspected that he ate the poisoned left at the fish pond by one of my brother in laws for the monitor lizard. The monitor lizards have been feasting on our Tilapias.

So, how to save the poisoned dog from dying? MIL said not to give him water as that will expedite his death. Then I remembered what my father did to our dog who accidentally ate poisoned bread. He forced feed the dog with lots of coconut water. To this day, the dog is still alive and healthy.

Told my MIL about it and she made the poisoned dog drink coconut water from 2 coconuts. A few hours later, the dog was up and walking about and to this day, he is still alive. The coconut water saved the dog.

CNY is most enjoyed by the kids. The best part of CNY eve is washing the floor of the whole house.

Sliding from on end of the house to the other on the soapy floor. Oh! How I wish I could join them.

Even the washing up is fun. They get to bathe outdoor; supervised by their older cousins who had so much fun “grooming” them.
