Student Insurance

One of the good thing about sending our children to school is that we can get cheap insurance for them; something like short term health insuranc NC. But that is only for PA. I am contemplating whether to get family health insurance or not. The last time, one of my sons was hospitalised for a day, it cost us 1k. It is either health insurance; ticket to private hospital for good services or government hospital; good facilities but limited specialist. As for now, since we still can’t afford health insurance, we will head to GH if any of us fall sick. We thank God that He has keep us healthy thus far.

When Can I Be Rich

When I am driving and an MPV passes by, I often hope that one day, I will drive one too. Not just drive one but own an MPV. As you all know, we are a family of 7 now. Soon, our sedan can no longer fit all of us unless we drive 2 cars when we go out. Knowing our financial status, we can never afford an MPV with the current unpredictable income. I should be grateful with whatever we have and I have made up my mind that we will travel in 2 cars when the children are older. I can drive what; don’t be so pampered lar. :P If we need to travel out of Melaka for a holiday, we will just rent an MPV. It is way cheaper than paying installment of RM1k per month for 7-9 years!

Yesterday, when fetching my 2nd daughter from her piano lesson, my eldest tag along. She took a peek inside the piano teacher’s house. She said, “Wow! Che Che Prisca is so rich, Mommy.” right infront of her and her dad. Yikes! Later in the car, she asked when can we be rich like them. I told her to pray about it. ;) She then told me that she wants to study to become a doctor, earn a lot of money, give to mommy and daddy, buy a big house with swimming pool and a nice car. Kids and their dream.

Hubby on the other hand is quite optimist about this. He believes that one day God will bless us and we can afford to buy an MPV. Let’s wait and pray. I’ll tell you when our prayer has been answered. ;)

New Year for the Dead – Cheng Beng

cheng beng party

Check this out! This is my paternal grandparent’s grave. Last week, my dad and his siblings celebrated Cheng Beng which is also known as the New Year for the Dead. You see the varieties of food that was being offered to them. Even during Chinese New Year we do not have that much food. Those are my grandparent’s favorite food and fruits. Hmmmm…I don’t see any Aiskrim Soda in that dark brown bottle and Cadbury Chocolate this time around. They are my grandma’s favorite. They used to offer that to her every year; I wonder why.

Cheng Beng is also a yearly “party” and family gathering for my dad’s family. Everyone will be at the same place at the same time; not even during CNY. After the prayer, they will feast on those food.

How To Be A Genius

einstein

My 8yo is currently reading this book. Almost everyday she asked me how to be a genius like Einstein so that she does not have to go to school, just like Einstein. Her motive to be a genius is ONLY to not go to school! Haiya! I thought she really hope she can be super clever.

How to be a genius then?

Since Einstein is a Jewish, we know that his mother ate lots of fish when she is pregnant. That’s the Jewish diet for pregnant woman. Fish is food for the brain! Belle said. “Mommy, how I wish you ate a LOT of fish when you were pregnant with me.” I think I did eat more fish when I am pregnant with her. That is why she is above average in her studies. ;)

Jewish are the blessed people. There is no doubt about it. God keeps His promises. Take a look around you, most of the geniuses are Jews. So I told Belle to pray that God will bless her with good brain too. ;)

Einstein loves to read about Science and Mathematics. And he thinks a lot and asked a lot of question. That got Belle to show more interest in memorizing her multiplication.

I think if she continues to ask me How To Be A Genius, I’ll get her to Google about it lar. I’m out of idea. :P

Image of Blister Due to Burn

blister

My almost 2yo baby got his first blister due to holding a hot iron yesterday when we were having BBQ at home. He grabbed the charcoal holder which has just been used to move the charcoal in the BBQ pit. All of us were either busy BBQing or eating to notice this lil rascal of mine heading for the hot rod. I hope he learnt his lesson and would believe us when we tell him that this and that is HOT.

Homemade chicken salad

Guest post written by Renee Holden

For my kids, I like to patch chicken salad sandwiches for their school lunches. Now that they’re hooked on it, I can’t get them to eat any other kind of sandwiches! But buying that store bought chicken salad at the local deli or even a chain grocery store can get pretty expensive after a while. So I decided that if my kids are hooked on the stuff, I better find a better way to get it and one that’s also less expensive.

I went online to find some directions on how to make some chicken salad on my own, which I’ve never attempted before. When I was online looking for that stuff, I came across the website Clear-Internet.com and looked through it a little bit. I showed it to my husband and we agreed on ordering a package from it for our home internet service.

I did find a recipe for chicken salad and fixed a whole bunch of it at once. Luckily it will keep a week, so this is perfect for their school lunches!

I Feel You Baby!

A few days ago (on Tues if I’m not mistaken), I was given the opportunity to feel what my baby felt when he got a bump on his forehead. Can you see the scar on his right forehead? I think, that’s the 3rd scar at the same place! I wonder why each time he fall face first, he will get knock at the same spot.

bump

I got almost the same scar at the same place as his but mine is vertical. It still hurts even after a few days. :( How did I get mine then? I did not fall down face first like he did. I knocked my head on the door right at the place where the door latch (metal) is. Ouch! All because of him lor.

I heard him fall down from the bed so I rushed in after hubby. When I saw that hubby already pick him up, I turn around to leave the room without realising that the door was half way closing. Bang! I see stars floating on top of my head. Surprisingly, I did not cry! Looks like I have toughen up after going through 5 child birth. Aiya! Small matter, give birth more pain. :P

Now I know how my baby felt when he got a bump on his forehead. I feel you, Baby!

Cleft Palate Due to Topamax

If any of you gave to a baby with cleft lip or cleft palate, one of the reasons could be Topamax. Topamax is an anti-convulsant used to treat epileptic seizures in children and adults, and is also prescribed to prevent migraine headaches. I know that during pregnancy, we often experience headaches. Try to avoid taking any medication when you are pregnant. You never know the side effect of it towards your unborn child. When you experience headache, drink lots and lots of water. It helps get rid of the headaches. I tried that.
