Started Music Lesson Again

Praise God that my eldest daughter started music lesson again. One of our church young adults offered to teach the youth any musical instrument that they want to learn. I thought my daughter will pick the jazz electric guitar or the drum but she chose the keyboard. After quitting piano class, I thought she want to stay away from getting piano lesson due to her past unpleasant experience. She told me that she wanted to learn how to play the keyboard because she wants to serve in church.

Yamaha Guitar

During the recent Cheng Beng family gathering, one of my nieces brought back her yamaha hs80. It seems that my eldest daughter has been arranging for her to do so, so that they can jam while the parents are busy catching up. My girl on the piano and her cousin sister on the guitar. Praise God for blessing them with music talent. The house is always filled with music.

Drum Set

When I see someone posted drum sets for sale, I am so tempted to purchase it for my kids. Later, when I found out the fee for drum lesson, I changed my mind. At least for now. It is so expensive, like RM50 for 30mins lesson. I should have pick up drum from one of my church members for free when I was still in school. I could earn big buck now. To those who are interested to purchase a drum set, click here.

Niece Learning Guitar

I just found out that one of my nieces is the learning how to play the guitar from her cousin brother. She is the same age as my eldest. I guess soon, she will be able to play the taylor gs mini e. I tried teaching my children how to play the guitar but they gave up after 10mins of trying to hold down the chords! “My fingers are painful, Mommy. I don’t want to learn anymore.” Oh well, have to wait till they are older then.

I Love School

There’s a thread in one of my FB groups that is talking about school. As many of us who loves school, there are many who hates it. I am one of them that love school. In my primary school, I was always the top student so I get lots of attention from the teachers and friends. During my primary school, I learned what is manipulation and favoritism. I know who are my real friend. Friend who get close to me just because I am smart and left me when I dropped to less than No.1 in class. Teacher who gave chance to her favorite student even though I raise up my hand first.

In secondary school, I was very active in extra-curricula activities and sports too. I was famous for being a tomboy and I have many secret admirers even though I am in an all girl school! There must have been many lesbian around! hahaha. I made lots of friends, seniors and juniors. We even made class ring.

I enjoyed my time the most when I was in university. Freedom and independent. I made full use of the facilities offered in the university. Made lots of friend and got very close to God too. Dated the tutor too! Went for midnight show and much more. If I am given the chance to go back in time, I want to go back to my varsity life.

Guitar Centre

My girls have stopped going for piano lesson for about 2 months. I know that music is good for the brain but until today, we still have not found a good piano teacher for them. My eldest would like to try learning the drum but the lesson is too costly for us. The cheapest we could afford is guitar lesson. I think, I’ll find some time next week to guitar centre to check out their lesson plan and fee.

Learn Free Style and Breast Stroke in 12 Swimming Lessons

I started sending my 3 older children for swimming class about 3 months ago. They started with free style. My eldest, 10yo managed to swim free style after 8 lessons and my 2nd girl, 9yo after 10 lessons. My 7yo is a slow learner, he can only float and kick at the 11th lesson.

Just now was their 12th lesson. My 2nd girl progressed faster than her older sister. She can swim breast stroke too. She has better stamina and can swim farther than her sister. My eldest can swim back stroke too.

That was the promised given by the swimming instructor. They (husband and wife) us that most of their student can swim by 12th lesson.

We will continue so that my children can perfect their strokes. :D

TV in Our Cyber Cafe

I am considering whether I should put a TV at my cyber cafe. Since I need to bring all 6 to work with me, I need some entertainment for them besides the computer for that many hours of working there. I have a few educational DVDs for them. Not only I need to look for mounting brackets at standandmounts but I need to buy a DVD player too!

Let’s see how the income will be for this month. :D

Public Speaking for Children

When I was in secondary school I was so impressed at how good this Remove Class (from SJKC) girl can tell story in Malay so well. I still remember the title of her story “Si Luncai dengan Labu-labunya” and how she took out a hanky from her pocket and squeeze out the water from it.

Now I know how she can be that good. She was trained well by her teachers during her primary school years. How I know? My girls are studying in SJKC. During the BM and English week, the teachers will pick a few of them from each class to go up the stage to speak. Std 1 and 2 got a simple ones, like reciting short rhymes. Std 3 onwards will tell stories they memorises from the storybooks. The main intention is to get them up the stage to speak; public speaking.

I still remember how my eldest, then in Std 2 refused to participate in the Storytelling competition. Come Std 3, she was forced to participate and after that first experience, she wanted to do it again. She was nervous and yet excited about standing infront of others to speak. She did once in Malay and once in English.

Recently, her school was asked to send representative (Tahap 1 student) for inter-school Storytelling in Malay. Her teacher chose her classmate but she declined. My 9yo daughter told me that the moment her classmate declined she quickly raised up her hand to volunteer. I was very surprise to know what she did. Wow! My daughter is so brave. Even before the competition we are already proud of her.

Well, she did not win any price for her school but she gained much experience from it. We are still very proud of her. I heard there were about 50 students participated in the Storytelling competition and only 15 were chosen to go to the next stage.

We rewarded her by bringing her out for dinner. She chose dinner over gift coz she wants us to be treated too coz we helped her prepare for the competition. She is so thoughtful. Her school will reward her for participating too. :D

p/s: she does not allow me to upload her video during practice here. :(
