Toyota Corolla

I have been driving Toyota Corolla a few months after I gave birth to my first child. I have to let go of my new Kancil because I want to save the installment money for her future and the stroller that I got from my uncle is too big to fit into a Kancil. My eldest child is 8 years old now and my Toyota Corolla is still serving me faithfully.

Throughout the 8 years we only need to send for repair less than 8 times. Yup! Not even once a year and the Toyota Corolla that I am driving is older than me! I think I fall sick for often than my car. ;) We do take good car of the car like frequent engine oil and filter change. It was a blessing working in a lubricating oil manufacturing company, I did not have to spend much on the engine oil. ;)

We do plan to buy an MPV since we are a family of 7 now. I don’t think we will sell our Toyota Corolla; it has no more market value. I think we will use it till it kaput for good and sell it as old junk. If there is an 11 seater MPV by Toyota with affordable price, we would consider buying it since we know its quality and durability.

Deporting Illegal Immigrants

illegal immigrants

I asked them to gather around to take a group picture before we head home, they sat in a straight row and not looking at the camera. Looks like illegal immigrants waiting to be deported only.

They have so much fun at the beach on Labor Day; my children and 2 of their cousins.

sands

They imagined that those sands are snow and made snowman!

sliding on the sand

Even my 2yo enjoyed sliding on the sand.

Hot Spring in Melaka

gadek hot spring

There are a few hot springs in Melaka and the one known to me is the Gadek Hot Spring which is quite near to Alor Gajah Town and A’Famosa Resort. We were there 2 weeks ago and hope to re-visit it again soon. :)

The entrance fee is cheap. Only RM4 for adult and RM2 for children aged 6-12yo. I got in free coz I told them that I won’t be using their facilities due to my health condition. ;)

The place has changed a lot since the last I went there…like more than 20 years ago! hehehe. Those days, we deep out feet right into the source of the hot water. Now, they have channeled the hot spring water into 2 mini swimming pools about 4 feet deep and a few jacuzzi tubs like pool for those who just wanna dip in their feet and lower part of their body. They also have tubs in their changing room for those who are shy to soak themselves in public or maybe they want go for skinny dipping. ;)

Holiday Outing

This school holiday we brought our children to 2 types of pool. One is at Wet World Pedas and another at Gadek Hot Spring. One is cold and the other is hot. The children had so much fun at both places. As for me, I was the camerawoman as always and watched them play from the poolside. I tried reading my daughter’s Enid Blyton’s book and tried figuring out how does humidors for cigars look like but often got distracted by the splashes made by them and also their “Mommy!” My children still have not get enough of water fun and wanted us to bring them to a swimming pool again this week.

Girls in Cameron Highland

I planned for a Cameron Highland holiday months ago but did not materialize because hubby is busy with his business. I have not been there since I gave birth to my eldest; that’s more than 8 years ago. I miss their steamboat with lots of veggie. You don’t have to worry about needing any Lipofuze if you stick to steamboat meal only when you are there. hehe. But I can’t resist the fried mushroom too!

Anyway, since all of us can’t go, I let my 2 girls go with their aunt and grandma. They were there from Monday till Wednesday. Unfortunately, it was not a pleasant trip for my eldest because she got dizzy on the way up due to the winding roads and became phobia of it. Each time she has to enter the car to go somewhere, she cried thinking of the winding roads again and getting dizzy again. She told me that she never want to go to Cameron Highland again! Poor girl. :(

How To Know Whether Your Child’s Shoe Fits Comfortably

Most girls like pretty, pink or red shoes. Even when the shoe is not comfortable they will insist me to buy it for them coz it looks pretty. I still have a pair of shoes that my eldest never wear after she tried them at the shoe shop. At the shop, she told me that it is comfortable and fit her feet well. She really wanted it. I took her word without checking whether the shoe really fits her comfortably and bought it. It was supposed to be her Chinese New Year shoe. On the Chinese New Year’s day, she put on the shoe then removed them telling me that the shoes are hard and hurt her feet. Maybe her feet grew over the past 2 months before Chinese New Year. I should have bought one size bigger!

Anyway, I have learned my lesson and also found out the proper way to check whether the shoe fits from this very informative video from Start-Rite.

Start-rite sells girls slippers and shoes. Their shoes have soft uppers and cosy linings that keep little feet warm, with secure fastenings and sturdy soles to protect from trips and slips. There are different styles to choose from and available in a variety of styles including moccasins and booties. Most importantly, Start-rite slippers have pretty designs that girls will love.

Learning about Fabric from ShopWiki

Most of you that have been following this blog would know that I am so into sewing right now. I do sell them if there is a request for them. Unfortunately, living in Malacca has some disadvantages when it comes to getting fabrics. We do not have much option here. I’ve been to Kamdar, Nagoya, Astana Moda and Textile Shops at Bunga Raya. No more nice and interesting fabric from them. Have not been to the textile shop at MITC though; will go there when I have some cash. :P

My next option is to buy imported fabric online. But then the cost of my handmade bags will surely go up because one meter of fabric can be as expensive as RM50 and above. Will you buy my bag if I sell them at RM50 each? Anyway, I am not looking into that yet. I dare not take the risk. :P Furthermore I don’t know much about fabric and worried that I will buy the wrong one.

As I was browsing ShopWiki Buying Guide, I discovered that they do provide information about almost everything that is selling at ShopWiki. I learned a thing or two about fabric from ShopWiki. Btw, ShopWiki is expanding and they have gone to Australia recently. I wonder whether they will come to Asia soon.

Time to Repair Toyota Corolla Again

There are pros and cons in owning an old cars. The pros are, I do not have to pay for installment every month and the road tax and insurance are cheap too. If there is a dent or scratches on my cars, my heart don’t feel the pain. No heartache also driving when on an old, muddy kampung roads.

The cons; from time to time, it has to enter the workshop for maintenance repair like changing the water pump, flushing the radiator, changing radiator, air-cond leakage etc. One time repair, it will at least cost about 300 bucks but then it is way better than forking out 300 bucks and more every month paying for a new car. :P Thank God I am an owner to a Toyota Corolla in which its spare parts are easily obtainable.

Another con is my old cars can’t bring us far from our hometown. The furthers they can go is to PD. Due to that we have been to PD for holiday a few times and will be going there again during the school holidays. ;) Ya…just to enjoy the beach, the swimming pool, the hotel room and to spend time as a family.

Oh ya! Nowadays it is so easy to get repair cost estimation online especially if you live in US. For instance Chicago auto repair which can be accessed from Repairpal.com.

Rainforest Splash Pool

Taking a deep in the Rainforest Splash Pool is the best part during our recent trip to Genting Highland. Hubby said it during our last trip there 2 years ago and he said it again during this trip too. ;) We do not have many above ground pools here with heated water coz there aren’t many cold place in this country.

My children enjoyed their time in the Rainforest Splash Pool as much as we do. My eldest told me that she wants to swim there for one thousand and million times! Unfortunately I did not enjoy it as much as the previous trip because the weather is so cold that each time I stand up, I started sneezing. So I have to stay in the warm water as long as my children are in there. Which means, no playing on the slides for me. :P

Holiday Aftermath

We are back from our holiday. We had a great time up on the hill. Blessed to have hubby 24 hours with us for the 3D2N. It has been quite sometime since we see each other for 24 hours more than a day.

For most, their holiday aftermath is all about getting those extra weight that they have gained. That is not the problem with us coz we stayed somewhere where food is very, very expensive and we have to walk a lot. So, we just had our usual breakfast, lunch and dinner. Whatever we ate, we burnt them on the same day by walking and climbing up the stairs and sometimes carrying the stroller with baby in it up the stairs!

My holiday aftermath is food poisoning! I think I am being poisoned by the strawberries that I ate! Due to the food poisoning, I had a humongous gastric attack yesterday and still having mild gastric attack till today.

Do you know that you are not supposed the part near the stem & leaves? I wallop everything except the leaves lar. Thank God that my children are spared from this misery. They ate more than me coz that was the fruits of their harvest. ;)

Will update more about our holiday trip after I am completely well again.
